Germany Defender Nico Schlotterbeck Out for Two Months, Ending World Cup 2026 Campaign
Borussia Dortmund defender and German international Nico Schlotterbeck will miss the 2026 World Cup. According to Sky Germany and Bild, the 26-year-old suffered a ligament tear during the match against Ivory Coast and is expected to be sidelined for approximately two months.
Antonio Rüdiger came on to replace Schlotterbeck in the game against Ivory Coast and is anticipated to continue starting in Germany’s remaining World Cup fixtures.
Having already secured first place in Group E, Germany will face Ecuador on Thursday in their final group stage match of the tournament.
