England striker Harry Kane has surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo’s best single-season goal tally. Kane’s goal against Panama marked his 70th of the season.
Ronaldo’s previous top mark was 69 goals during the 2012/13 campaign.
However, the all-time record remains with Lionel Messi.
The highest goal-scoring seasons in history are as follows:
1- Lionel Messi (11/12) – 82 goals
2- Harry Kane (25/26) – 70 goals
3- Cristiano Ronaldo (11/12) and Lionel Messi (12/13) – 69 goals each
It is also worth noting that Kane recently broke Gary Lineker’s record, becoming England’s all-time leading scorer at World Cups with 11 goals.
