La Liga will introduce Connected Ball technology in all matches starting from the 2026/27 season, according to the official announcement from the Spanish league.
This technology features an embedded sensor that tracks the ball’s position and records the exact moment of every touch in real time.
The system will be integrated with VAR and semi-automated offside detection to assist referees in making more accurate decisions during contentious situations involving offsides, handballs, deflections, corners, and double touches.
It is worth noting that La Liga will become the first national league to implement this technology across every match in the competition.
