Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique shared his ambitious goals for the upcoming season following their 2-1 victory over Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup.
“We knew the match would be tough, but we managed to play the way we intended. My players showed what they are capable of. Perhaps we are not yet at our peak fitness, but this game clearly demonstrated who we are and the passionate support from our fans who constantly help us win trophies and stay motivated.
I understand how challenging it is to win trophies, especially at a club with such high expectations. Three years ago, many said my team was too young, but we proved them wrong. There is still much to improve, and we are aware of our weaknesses, yet I am very pleased to coach a squad with such a positive spirit.
Our next target is to win the Champions League for the third consecutive time. We must maintain our ambition and belief in ourselves. It will be very difficult, but we are determined not to become complacent,” Enrique said.
It is worth noting that Paris Saint-Germain have won the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup twice each over the past two seasons.
