Manchester City Break Club Transfer Record with £116 Million Anderson Signing
Manchester City will pay a club-record £116 million (€135 million) to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. The news emerged last night.
Initial reports suggested that the 23-year-old Anderson’s fee could reach a Premier League record of £130 million, but both BBC and Sky Sports later confirmed that the two clubs agreed on a compensation package of £116 million.
Nottingham Forest will receive this entire amount as a guaranteed fee, with no additional bonuses. Previously, City had offered £120 million for Anderson, which included £14 million in potential add-ons. Therefore, this transfer will set a new record for Manchester City’s highest fee paid but will not break the overall Premier League transfer record.
Anderson is currently with the England national team at the World Cup but has already been granted permission to undergo a medical examination today in New York.
