Porto’s Brazilian winger William Gomes, regarded as one of the most promising young forwards globally, has emerged as a target for Manchester United. According to A Bola, the English club is prepared to meet his release clause.

However, Manchester United are far from the only suitors interested in the 20-year-old talent. Arsenal and Newcastle from England, along with Atlético Madrid and Roma, are also vying for his signature.

Gomes joined Porto from São Paulo in January 2025, but his rapid development has already marked him as a player to watch during the upcoming summer transfer window.

No official bids have been made yet, but Manchester United’s interest is understandable given the club’s need for quality, pace, and unpredictability on the wings.

At just 20, Gomes is comfortable playing on either flank and still possesses significant potential for growth. This versatility could prove especially valuable at Old Trafford, where United require forwards capable of roaming across the attacking line, stretching defenses, and offering fresh options in one-on-one situations.

Gomes has a release clause set at €80 million, but Porto might consider selling for around €45 million. Nevertheless, this remains a substantial investment based on potential alone. Manchester United will need to closely monitor Porto’s stance and proceed only if the deal aligns with their broader team rebuilding strategy.
