Massimo Calvelli Appointed CEO as AC Milan Advances Restructuring
Italian club Milan is undergoing a significant overhaul. Just ten days after appointing Ruben Amorim as head coach, the club announced on Friday the hiring of Massimo Calvelli as its new CEO. The former professional tennis player and ex-ATP chairman replaces Giorgio Furlani, who resigned at the end of May following the team’s fifth-place finish in Serie A.
Calvelli, who has been working with the American firm RedBird since last year, will retain his roles as international CEO of RedBird Development Group and operating partner at RedBird Capital Partners.
“The opportunity to lead Milan at this critical juncture in the club’s football journey, as well as within the broader context of Italian football, is a responsibility I take very seriously and with a strong sense of urgency. I have spent a full year working closely with the club’s leadership at all levels, and I have a clear vision of what needs to be fixed and renewed,” said the 51-year-old Calvelli.
