Maxim Malyshev to Lead Shakhtar U19 in UEFA Youth League Campaign
Following the appointment of Aleksei Belik as head coach of Shakhtar U21, the club swiftly identified a suitable replacement for the vacant position. Maksim Malyshev has been promoted to lead the U19 squad.
Malyshev’s arrival is not from outside the club’s structure—he previously served as Belik’s assistant. He now takes charge of a team that recently secured the Ukrainian championship in their age group and earned the right to represent Ukraine on the European stage. Malyshev will guide them as they embark on their campaign in the UEFA Youth League.
At 33 years old, Malyshev is a product of Shakhtar’s youth system and was once regarded as a highly promising midfielder. Unfortunately, his playing career was severely hampered by a series of injuries, forcing him to retire in 2021. Over the past three seasons, he worked as an assistant coach for Shakhtar U19.
