Insider Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain is planning to sign a new central defender. This addition will create competition for the starting spot currently held by Ukrainian defender Illya Zabarnyi.
“PSG is quietly working on acquiring a player for this position. The club aims to strengthen their squad with a central defender during this transfer window, and it will be a significant move,” Romano stated.
It is worth noting that Zabarnyi joined PSG in the summer of 2025 from English club Bournemouth for a fee of €63 million. In his debut season in France, Illya featured in 37 matches for the Parisian side and scored one goal.
