Three Dead in Crowd Crush During Mexico World Cup Victory Celebrations
Three people lost their lives in a stampede in Mexico City during celebrations following the national football team’s victory at the World Cup. The fatalities occurred near the iconic Angel of Independence boulevard, where thousands of fans had gathered to celebrate Mexico’s win over Ecuador.
According to authorities, emergency medical teams attended to three unconscious individuals at various locations around Paseo de la Reforma. The capital’s most famous boulevard and surrounding streets had been closed to traffic and prepared for the festivities.
Mayor Clara Brugada offered her condolences to the victims’ families and urged everyone to “always celebrate responsibly, with care and compassion.”
