Tuchel Acknowledges Challenge Posed by Panama Ahead of Match
England head coach Thomas Tuchel has shared his thoughts ahead of tonight’s match against Panama, which kicks off at midnight UTC.
“This is a tough fixture against a side that is very difficult to beat. They hardly allow their opponents to create chances. In their game against Croatia, they conceded only two shots on target. You can see a well-prepared, cohesive team. Their coach has been in charge for five or six years. They have a clear identity and are ranked internationally on par with Wales and Serbia. They may not be the most famous or widely recognized football nation, but they are strong.
They can play the role of underdogs and do so without pressure, which is exactly what we expect from them. It’s a challenging game, and we anticipate they will defend in a deep block, so we will need to break that down. We also see them applying high pressing against our goal kicks and our goalkeeper. It’s a complicated situation. We are considered favorites, but we need to improve certain aspects because this is a new challenge. We need another top-class performance to win,” Tuchel told BBC.
