Vincenzo Montella to Remain Head Coach of Turkey Despite World Cup Exit
Despite Turkey’s disappointing exit from the 2026 World Cup, Vincenzo Montella will remain at the helm as the national team’s head coach, according to Takvim.
The Turkish Football Federation held discussions with the Italian manager following the team’s elimination from the tournament. Both parties agreed on making changes ahead of the UEFA Nations League campaign starting in September.
There will be adjustments within Montella’s coaching staff, with a mentor expected to join the team. Changes are also likely among the fitness coaching group. Additionally, Montella plans to adopt a more flexible approach to squad selection and will be more proactive in evaluating new players.
To recall, Turkey was knocked out of the 2026 World Cup at the group stage after defeats to Australia (0-2) and Paraguay (0-1), before securing a 3-2 victory over the United States in a match that had no bearing on qualification. Montella’s side finished at the bottom of Group D.
