Empoli, the Serie B club featuring Ukrainian player Bohdan Popov, has officially appointed Matteo Andreoletti as their new head coach. The 37-year-old has signed a contract with the Tuscan side running until June 30, 2028.
Andreoletti takes over from Guido Paliuca, who resigned following a disappointing start to the season. The new coach previously enjoyed success at Padova, where he led the team to win their Serie C group in the 2024/25 season. This achievement made him the youngest coach ever to win that competition, securing Padova’s promotion back to Serie B after a six-year absence.
The official presentation of Andreoletti to the media is scheduled for Thursday, October 1, at the Carlo Castellani Stadium. His primary mission will be to stabilize Empoli’s performances and improve their results in Serie B. Andreoletti is known for his tactical discipline, particularly his effective use of a three-central-defender formation, which he successfully implemented at Padova.
