Portugal Reassigns Cristiano Ronaldo’s No.7 Jersey to Rafael Leão
The number seven jersey, previously worn by striker Cristiano Ronaldo for the Portugal national team, has now been officially assigned to attacking midfielder Rafael Leao. The winger of Turkish club Galatasaray has been registered under this number on UEFA’s official website.
Ronaldo left the national team camp after learning he would not be included in the starting lineup for the UEFA Nations League group stage match against Denmark, scheduled for today, October 1.
Following this, the Portuguese forward released a statement promising to “reveal the whole truth.” Reports also emerged that Ronaldo had decided to retire from international football. In response, the national team management took his announcement very seriously and made a clear statement by reassigning his iconic jersey number away from the legendary player.
